Are flower effervescent tablets the same as nutrient solutions?

Friends who grow flowers definitely want their flowers to bloom for a few more days. That's when flower effervescent tablets and nutrient solutions come in handy. Although both are used to make flowers last longer, there are significant differences in their ingredients, functions, and usage methods.

**Ingredients**

Flower effervescent tablets are mainly composed of sodium bicarbonate and citric acid. When you put them into water, a rapid chemical reaction will occur, generating a large number of carbon dioxide bubbles, which can "activate" the water. In addition to these, some antibacterial substances, such as sodium benzoate, are added to prevent the growth of bacteria in the water and create a clean environment for the flowers.

The ingredients of the nutrient solution are much more abundant. There are minerals such as potassium, calcium, and magnesium, which are crucial for maintaining the cell structure of the flowers and regulating their physiological functions. There are also vitamins B1 and C, which can help the flowers enhance their resistance and make them more vibrant. Moreover, there are amino acids in it, which are important raw materials for protein synthesis. They can help the flowers grow and repair damaged parts.

**Functions**

Flower effervescent tablets are mainly used for disinfecting and cleaning the water quality. When arranging flowers, bacteria and microorganisms are particularly likely to grow in the water. These bacteria will consume all the oxygen in the water and block the stems of the flowers, preventing the flowers from absorbing water and causing them to wither quickly. Once the flower effervescent tablets are put in, the released carbon dioxide can regulate the pH value of the water and inhibit the bacteria, ensuring the water is clean and allowing the stems of the flowers to absorb water smoothly.

The nutrient solution, on the other hand, mainly provides the nutrients needed for the growth of the flowers. It enables the flower cells to divide and grow properly and enhances their metabolic functions. With the nutrient solution, the flowers will have more vivid colors, larger blooms, and a significantly extended flowering period.

**Usage Methods**

Using flower effervescent tablets is very simple. Just put the effervescent tablets directly into a vase filled with clean water. It will dissolve immediately and mix with the water. Generally, 1 to 2 tablets are enough for 1 liter of water, which is very convenient.

The use of the nutrient solution requires more care. First, you need to dilute it according to the ratio specified in the instruction manual, depending on the type and growth stage of different flowers. The general ratio is 1:50 to 1:200. For those more delicate flowers, they may need to be diluted 200 times; for more robust flowers, a 50-fold dilution is sufficient. After diluting it well, pour it into the vase.

So, when growing flowers, you need to consider the actual situation and see what the flowers need more, and then choose the appropriate product. In this way, you can keep the flowers beautiful all the time.
