Avocado, also known as avocado, is a nutritionally rich fruit with a green or purple skin and a yellow-green flesh inside. It has a soft texture and a creamy flavor. Avocado is a traditional food in Central and South America and is now widely grown around the world.
Due to the El Nino weather, the export volume of Peruvian avocados this year is expected to be about 540,000 tons, a decrease of about 10% compared to 2023.
According to Peruvian media reports, the Scotiabank Economic Research Department pointed out in its Weekly Reprot that it is expected that the export value of Peruvian avocados in 2024 will be about US$970 million (approximately RMB 7 billion), which is the same as that in 2023 of US$964 million (approximately RMB 6.98 billion); the export volume is expected to be about 540,000 tons, a decrease of about 10% compared to 2023.
This year's production season will still be affected by the high temperature related to El Nino, resulting in a decrease in export volume, but as long as there is no heavy rain, the quality of avocados will not be affected. Therefore, the average export price is expected to reach $1.8 per kilogram (approximately RMB 13), which is 12% higher than $1.61 in 2023 (approximately RMB 11.6). The higher price will make up for some of the loss in output.
Scotiabank pointed out that according to data from the Peruvian Hass Avocado Producers and Exporters Association (ProHass), due to climatic factors, the supply in California, USA will also decrease by 20-30%. Avocado in Spain and Portugal will be affected by the lack of water supply, while the majority of Chile's output will be mainly supplied to the domestic market and will no longer be an important exporter. Colombia is expected to have a larger export volume, but its exports only account for about 3% of the global supply.
Peru is the world's second-largest exporter of avocados, accounting for about 20% of the total trade volume, second only to Mexico, which accounts for 36% of global exports.

How to eat avocados
Most Chinese people prefer sweet, crisp, juicy fruits, while avocados with a buttery taste, less moisture, dull appearance, dry texture, and high prices were initially not popular in China.
"One of the hardest fruits I've ever seen." A netizen said on Sina Weibo. In the Chinese market, oranges from the United States, pineapples from Taiwan, and kiwifruits from New Zealand are imported fruits with better sales. However, there are still more and more news about avocados, and the trend is unstoppable. A WeChat Moments article "How to eat hip avocados in style?" once again whetted everyone's appetite.
The correct way to open an avocado:
First, use a knife to cut the avocado in half, with the depth reaching the pit; then insert the knife and fork into the pit, and turn it gently to pick it out; finally, use a spoon to gently rotate along the outside of the skin, and then use a knife to draw the shape you want. Do not peel when cutting, otherwise, your hands will be covered with flesh.
Sometimes I accidentally think I will eat a lot. After the avocados are cut open, they are easily oxidized and turn black, so if you only eat half at a time, do not take out the pit. Drizzle a little lemon juice on the pit and wrap it in plastic wrap. Store it in the refrigerator. Click here to get the avocado fresh-keeping method. Otherwise, it will look like this:

Dipped in food, the taste is similar to that of salmon and tuna belly.
