When cultivating Phalaenopsis in the Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai region, it is necessary to precisely control key elements such as temperature, light, watering, and planting medium to ensure the healthy growth and lush blooming of the plants.

1. Temperature: The suitable temperature range for the growth of Phalaenopsis is between 15 and 28 degrees Celsius. The Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai region has distinct four seasons, and both the low temperatures in winter and the high temperatures in summer pose challenges to Phalaenopsis. When the temperature is lower than the suitable range, the leaves of the plants are prone to frost damage, and in severe cases, it can even endanger their lives. During the high-temperature period in summer, effective cooling measures need to be taken, such as turning on the air conditioner, placing the plants in a cool and ventilated place, etc., to create a suitable temperature environment for Phalaenopsis.

2. Light: Phalaenopsis avoids direct strong light and prefers a scattered light environment. The Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai region has relatively abundant sunlight. During the maintenance process, special attention should be paid to avoiding placing the plants directly close to the glass, because the glass easily accumulates heat, and it will cause thermal damage to Phalaenopsis under the sunlight. It can be placed in a place with bright indoor light but without direct light, or use tools such as a shading net for appropriate shading.

3. Water: Watering should follow the principle of "water when dry and then let it dry out slightly", that is, water when the roots of Phalaenopsis are slightly white. If the roots are still green, there is no need to water. This is because the fleshy aerial roots of Phalaenopsis have poor tolerance to waterlogging. Excessive water is likely to cause root rot, which in turn affects the overall growth of the plants.

4. Planting Medium: The traditional planting media used for cultivating Phalaenopsis mainly include sphagnum moss and bark. Sphagnum moss has excellent water retention properties and can continuously supply water to the roots. The bark has good air permeability, which is beneficial for the respiration of the roots, but its water retention ability is poor. In view of the humidity differences in different seasons in the Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai region, the mixing ratio of sphagnum moss and bark can be flexibly adjusted according to the actual situation to meet the growth needs of Phalaenopsis.

In general, Phalaenopsis prefers a warm and humid environment, but its fleshy aerial roots are extremely sensitive to waterlogging. When maintaining Phalaenopsis in the Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai region, as long as careful attention is paid to the above key aspects, Phalaenopsis can grow vigorously and bloom with gorgeous flowers.
