Mint is a quite easy-to-grow plant. If you want to start growing vanilla and are afraid that you won't take good care of it at the beginning and suffer setbacks, mint is definitely the first choice. Mint has a relatively high water requirement. In hot weather, it almost needs to be watered once or twice a day (in principle, water it again when the soil is dry!).

In terms of sunlight, mint likes a higher degree of light. If you find that the stem of your mint becomes thin and weak, and the newly grown leaves become smaller and the distance between the nodes becomes longer, that is mostly the phenomenon caused by the lack of light.

In terms of the demand for fertilizers, in the growing season when mint is almost growing vigorously throughout the year, the application of organic fertilizers can speed up the growth rate of mint (if no fertilizers are applied, the growth rate will be slower). Mint needs to be frequently trimmed to grow beautifully, so don't be afraid that it will be a pity to cut the growing mint. The cut mint can be used to make tea. In summer, making iced mint tea can reduce internal heat, which is a great drink. The production method is to boil the water, turn off the heat, add fresh mint leaves, cover and let it sit until the water becomes cool, then filter it and put it in the refrigerator. Friends who like a sweeter taste can add honey or rock sugar, or add stevia leaves and cook together.

Mint belongs to the Labiatae family and has quite a variety of types. Due to human or natural hybridization, the number of mint varieties has now reached more than 500. The smell and appearance of different varieties will vary according to the variety. Let's take a look at the characteristics of common varieties.

Dutch mint: The most common type of mint in the flower market, the leaf veins are very deep, and it smells like the taste of green arrow chewing gum. When cultivated, the aroma naturally emanates. It is very suitable for use in cooking, and it is often used in the decoration of desserts.

Chocolate mint: It does not have the taste of chocolate, but it smells with a little sweet and fresh fragrance, and it tastes cooler than Dutch mint. It is a great kind of mint for making tea. The veins and stems are often chocolate-colored, but in the case of insufficient light or excessive application of fertilizers, the chocolate color often fades.

Apple/pineapple mint: The names of these two varieties in the flower market are confused. Basically, the only difference is whether there are spots. There are spots for pineapple mint and no spots for apple mint. Whether it is apple mint or pineapple mint, the smell is a light apple fragrance. Drinking it as tea only has a fragrance, but there is no cool taste. The important feature of the leaves with soft fluff is this variety.

Juliet sweet mint: It is a kind of mint with quite a cool smell. If the aroma of Dutch mint is the taste of green arrow chewing gum, then Juliet sweet mint can be described as "Extra chewing gum". Although the smell is very cool, it lacks the mint aroma.

Mint planting is relatively simple. If you want to grow it, then just start to grow and try it! In terms of varieties, do the above mint varieties have the one you like? If there is, just pick it!
