Today, I'd like to share with you my recent favorite Phalaenopsis variety — Little Kiss! Its appearance is truly amazing. Ever since I started growing it, my home has instantly become more elegant and cozy.
Phalaenopsis Little Kiss belongs to the large-flowered Phalaenopsis category, and the size of its flowers is quite impressive. The base color of its petals is a pure and soft white. When you look closely, there are delicate small patterns on the petals. Its labellum is even more unique, outlined by pink lines, which are smooth and delicate. From a certain angle, the tail of the labellum really looks like a lively little fish.
The flowering period of Phalaenopsis Little Kiss is relatively long. Generally speaking, if it is well-cared for, it can bloom for 2 to 3 months. Under suitable conditions of temperature, light, and moisture, it may even bloom for a longer time. Its peak flowering period is in the late winter and early spring every year, which just adds a lot of New Year's atmosphere to the home.
The problem of bud drop really troubles many flower enthusiasts, and Little Kiss is no exception. However, as long as you master the correct maintenance methods, you can greatly reduce the probability of bud drop. Sudden changes in temperature, insufficient light, excessive or insufficient watering may all lead to bud drop. For example, if there is a sudden drop in temperature, Little Kiss may not be able to withstand it and the bud drop phenomenon may occur. So, try to avoid drastic changes in the environment.
Daily Maintenance and Management
Temperature: The suitable growth temperature for Little Kiss is between 15℃ and 28℃. In winter, be sure to keep it warm and don't let it be blown by the cold wind. In summer, if the temperature is too high, cool it down appropriately and place it in a ventilated and cool place.
Light: It likes bright diffused light. Never expose it to direct sunlight, as it is easy to sunburn the leaves and flowers. You can place it in the living room near the window, but where the sunlight will not directly hit it.
Watering: The watering frequency is about once every 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the actual situation. You can insert your finger about 2 to 3 centimeters into the soil. If you feel that the soil is dry, it's time to water. When watering, water it thoroughly, but don't let there be waterlogging, otherwise, the roots are likely to rot.
Fertilization: During the vigorous growth period, apply slow-release fertilizer about once every 1 to 2 months, or apply a thin liquid fertilizer every 1 to 2 weeks. Remember to apply thin fertilizers frequently.
Precautions
Repotting: Generally, repot Little Kiss once every 1 to 2 years, preferably after the flowering period. Be careful when repotting and don't damage its roots.
Pest and Disease Control: Regularly check the plant to see if there are any pests or diseases. If you find pests such as aphids or spider mites, you can wipe them off with a damp cloth. If the situation is serious, you need to spray pesticides for control.
Growing Little Kiss is really fulfilling. As long as you take good care of it, it will reward you with a fragrant room. Give it a try now!
