Among flowers, there are some blossoms that are breathtakingly beautiful with their stunning postures but bring many challenges in the process of cultivation. Water lilies, lotuses, irises, and snapdragons are such a category of beautiful yet difficult-to-cultivate flowers.
Water lilies are like fairies in the water, quietly blooming in ponds or water jars. However, cultivating water lilies is by no means easy. First of all, it has extremely high requirements for water quality. Clear, unpolluted water rich in nutrients is the foundation for the growth of water lilies. If the water quality is not good, water lilies are very likely to grow poorly and even wither and die.
Secondly, water lilies need sufficient sunlight. Lack of sunlight will cause the flowers to fail to open normally, and the leaves will turn yellow. Moreover, the growth of water lilies also requires an appropriate temperature. In the cold winter, heat preservation measures need to be taken, otherwise it is very difficult for water lilies to survive safely.
Lotus has been loved by literati since ancient times. "The lotus leaves in the sky are infinitely green, and the lotus flowers in the sun are extraordinarily red." vividly depicts the magnificent beauty of lotus. But the cultivation of lotus is also full of difficulties. On the one hand, lotus needs a large growth space. Whether it is a pond or a water jar, it is necessary to ensure that there is enough volume for the lotus root system to stretch.
On the other hand, lotus also has strict requirements on soil. Fertile, loose soil with good water retention is the key to the healthy growth of lotus. In addition, lotus also needs regular fertilization and pest control during the growth process. A little negligence may affect the growth and flowering of lotus.
Iris is famous for its unique flower shape and rich colors. The flower shape of iris is like a butterfly, and there are many colors such as blue, purple, and yellow. However, the cultivation of iris requires extra care. Iris has relatively strict requirements on soil pH and is suitable for growing in slightly acidic to neutral soil. If the soil pH is not suitable, iris is very likely to grow poorly.
At the same time, iris also needs sufficient sunlight and good ventilation conditions. In terms of watering, it is necessary to master the degree. Neither too much water to cause water accumulation nor too little water to make the soil too dry. In addition, iris needs appropriate cold protection measures in winter to avoid being frostbitten.
Snapdragons have small and delicate flowers with bright and dazzling colors. Snapdragons have a rich variety of colors, including red, pink, yellow, white, etc., which often make people fondle admiringly. However, the cultivation of snapdragons is also quite difficult. Snapdragons are relatively sensitive to temperature, neither tolerating high temperatures nor severe cold. In high temperatures in summer, snapdragons are easy to wither;
In cold winters, they are easily frozen to death. In addition, snapdragons need sufficient sunlight, but they cannot be exposed to strong sunlight for a long time, otherwise it will affect the quality of the flowers. In terms of fertilization, attention should also be paid to moderation. Too much or too little fertilizer may have an adverse effect on snapdragons.
Although water lilies, lotuses, irises, and snapdragons are beautiful but difficult to cultivate, this does not prevent people from loving them. It is precisely because of their beauty and uniqueness that people are willing to spend time and energy trying to cultivate them. In the process of cultivation, we can continuously learn and explore, accumulate experience, and improve our flower cultivation skills.
