As is well known, roses are elegant and luxurious with a pure and beautiful meaning. But what if they get gray mold during the maintenance in the rainy season? Let's learn about it together below.
Generally speaking, friends who have raised roses have experienced gray mold on the petals. This disease, also known as Botrytis cinerea, is a fungal disease and is contagious. Therefore, as long as one flower is infected, other flowers will also be infected one after another. When it is first discovered, the petals will show brown on a single petal. If it is serious later, the flower heads will rot. The main cause of gray mold is dampness. Therefore, remember not to spray water on the rose heads during daily maintenance.
However, the appearance of rose gray mold and the creases of the protective petals are relatively similar. So how to accurately judge whether a rose has gray mold or creases of the protective petals? Here is a method for everyone. Touch the discolored area with your hand. If the edge is not neat, the petals are dry, and at the same time, the petals are thick, this is generally the crease of the protective petal. If the petals at the discolored area feel thinner when touched and rot with a touch, it is generally gray mold.
During maintenance, generally, there is no need to pay too much attention to the creases of the outer protective petals. But if it is gray mold and not too serious, first of all, we need to move the flowers to a dry and ventilated place for maintenance to avoid dampness. Secondly, the container must be kept clean. Usually, the vases should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Then, when arranging flowers in a vase, try to choose vases with large mouths. Do not arrange the flowers too closely to each other. Leave some space for the flowers to avoid gray mold caused by local dampness. Finally, ensure the air circulation. Do not place the flowers in a heating room with too high a temperature.
If there is gray mold on the flowers as soon as you receive them, you should immediately ask the boss for a refund. If gray mold appears during your own maintenance, you need to do a removal treatment. If it is one or two petals, just remove the gray moldy petals and maintain them normally. If there are several petals, they should be directly cut off with scissors and discarded. Here it is recommended to separate the flowers with gray mold from the normal ones for maintenance to avoid infecting other flowers.
