Phalaenopsis orchids are extremely beautiful in appearance, and many flower enthusiasts love to cultivate them. Compared with traditional soil cultivation, semi-hydroponic cultivation of Phalaenopsis orchids is not only clean but also allows you to clearly observe the growth of the roots, greatly enhancing their ornamental value. Now, I will share with you the maintenance methods for semi-hydroponically cultivated Phalaenopsis orchids!

## I. Preparations in Advance
First, select a healthy Phalaenopsis orchid. A healthy plant has emerald green leaves with a glossy sheen, and its tender white roots look plump and full of vitality. Then, prepare a transparent hydroponic container, which is convenient for observing the condition of the roots. In addition, you also need to prepare sphagnum moss or ceramsite. They are breathable and loose, providing a better growing environment for the roots of Phalaenopsis orchids.

## II. Transplanting Method
Carefully take the Phalaenopsis orchid out of its original flower pot. Be gentle and slowly remove the old soil from the roots, being careful not to damage them. After cleaning, soak the roots in a diluted carbendazim solution for 15 to 20 minutes, and then take them out and let them dry. Next, spread a layer of sphagnum moss or ceramsite at the bottom of the hydroponic container, place the Phalaenopsis orchid in it, and then continue to fill with sphagnum moss or ceramsite to firmly fix the plant.

## III. Daily Maintenance
1. Watering: This is the key to semi-hydroponic cultivation! When adding water to the container, make sure that the water level is 1 to 2 centimeters away from the bottom of the roots. Never let the roots be completely submerged in water, otherwise, they are likely to rot due to lack of oxygen. Regularly check the water level. In summer, due to the high temperature and rapid evaporation of water, you need to check it every 3 to 5 days. In winter, checking it every 1 to 2 weeks is sufficient.
2. Lighting: Phalaenopsis orchids prefer soft scattered light and should never be exposed to direct sunlight. You can place them on a bright and well-ventilated windowsill or in the living room indoors. Ensuring 4 to 6 hours of scattered light per day allows the plant to carry out photosynthesis smoothly.
3. Temperature: The most suitable temperature for Phalaenopsis orchids is between 18 and 28°C. Remember to cool them down in summer and take good warming measures in winter to prevent them from being frostbitten.

## IV. Precautions
Pay more attention to the roots and leaves of the Phalaenopsis orchid in daily life. If you find that the roots turn black or rot, trim them immediately, and also disinfect the plant and the container. Every 2 to 3 months, you can add a special hydroponic flower nutrient solution to the water after diluting it according to the instructions to supplement nutrients for the Phalaenopsis orchid.

As long as you master these methods, even novice flower growers can keep Phalaenopsis orchids healthy.
