The Phalaenopsis "Treasure Map" variety has large, dignified and elegant flower shapes, with colors that are both bright and elegant, and it can be regarded as one of the best among the purple Phalaenopsis. At the Taiwan Orchid Exhibition in China in 2017, it won the championship and received the highest honor of the whole event. Because it symbolizes an influx of wealth and good fortune and prosperity, coupled with its outstanding quality itself, it has become one of the extremely popular New Year's flowers at present.

The flowering period of the Phalaenopsis "Treasure Map" is quite long! Generally speaking, if properly cared for, it can last for 3 to 5 months from the time when the flowers start to bloom.

Key Points for Maintenance

Light: The Phalaenopsis "Treasure Map" prefers bright scattered light. You can place it in a place indoors where there is bright light but will not be directly exposed to sunlight, such as on a coffee table or a desk near the window.

Temperature: The suitable growth temperature is between 18 and 28 °C. In winter, it is necessary to pay attention to keeping it warm, and the temperature should not be lower than 10 °C. If the temperature is too low, it will grow poorly or even be frostbitten.

Watering: Follow the principle of "watering thoroughly when the soil is completely dry". When watering, pour water slowly to allow it to fully penetrate into the soil until water flows out from the bottom of the pot.

Fertilization: During the growth period, apply a thin liquid fertilizer approximately every 2 to 3 weeks. You can choose potassium dihydrogen phosphate, dilute it according to the proportion in the instructions, and then spray it on the leaves or water it at the roots.

Precautions

Keep ventilation to make the air circulate, so that the Phalaenopsis can grow healthily. If the ventilation is poor, it is easy to cause diseases such as black spot disease and soft rot disease. Once these diseases occur, they will be difficult to deal with.

Regularly check the condition of the plant. See if there are yellow leaves, withered leaves, signs of insects or other pests and diseases. If any pests or diseases are found, take measures in time.

When it comes to repotting, it is best to do it in spring. Generally, change the potting soil once every 1 to 2 years to ensure the fertility and air permeability of the soil.
