Phalaenopsis 'Mona Lisa' gets its name from the world-famous and renowned painting. It belongs to the type with a tall flower spike and medium to large flower size. Its leaves are small and the inflorescences are neatly arranged. With a creamy yellow back of the flower, peach-pink petals, and deep red sepals, it makes people fall in love at first sight. When it first blooms, the edges of the flowers have a touch of fresh yellow. As time passes, the yellow gradually fades and turns into a gentle milky white. It has different beauty at each stage.
The flowering period of Phalaenopsis 'Mona Lisa' is quite long, usually lasting for 2 to 3 months. If it is well maintained, it can even last longer, allowing everyone to have plenty of time to appreciate its beauty.
Phalaenopsis 'Mona Lisa' is relatively easy to grow. When maintaining it, as long as you master the following key maintenance points, there will basically be no major problems.
Lighting: Place it in a place with bright diffused light and avoid direct exposure to strong light, otherwise the leaves are easily sunburned.
Temperature: The most suitable growth temperature is 15 - 28°C. Pay attention to keeping it warm in winter and do not let the temperature drop below 10°C.
Watering: Water it only after the surface of the planting medium is dry. Water it thoroughly each time, and never let there be water accumulation, otherwise the roots are likely to rot.
Fertilization: Apply a thin special orchid fertilizer once every 1 - 2 weeks during the growing season. Apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers before the flowering period to promote flower bud differentiation.
Precautions:
1. Be sure to ensure good ventilation in the maintenance environment, otherwise it is prone to pests and diseases.
2. Repot it after the flowers wither. Be careful during the operation and never damage the roots.
3. Try to use clean soft water for watering, such as rainwater or tap water that has been left standing for two or three days, which is very good.
4. If the flower buds wither, first check whether there are problems with the temperature, lighting, water and fertilizer, and make targeted adjustments. If the temperature is not suitable, adjust it immediately. If the light is too strong, move it to a place with diffused light; if you water too much, take the plant out of the pot and air-dry the roots, and if you water too little, replenish water in time; if the fertilization is improper and it is too concentrated, water with clean water to dilute it, and if there is a lack of fertilizer, replenish the fertilizer immediately. At the same time, reduce moving and touching the plant, and do not prune it during the flowering period.
Whether it is cultivated individually or combined with other flowers in a pot, Phalaenopsis 'Mona Lisa' is a good choice.
