Today, I definitely want to share with you a niche Phalaenopsis variety - Raffi.
Phalaenopsis Raffi is a medium-sized flower with waxy petals that are full of texture and exude a strong sense of luxury. Its leaves are round and thick. The rich wine-red petals are paired with small bright pink stamens, giving it an air of nobility while still retaining a touch of playfulness. The velvet texture makes it uniquely beautiful. When placed in the room, it instantly elevates the style!
Phalaenopsis Raffi generally blooms in the winter and spring seasons. Its flowering period usually lasts about 2 to 3 months. If it is well-cared for, it may even bloom for a longer time!
For the daily watering of Phalaenopsis Raffi, follow the principle of "watering when the soil is dry and seeing it through when watering". Touch the planting medium with your hand. Water it only when it's dry and make sure to water it thoroughly at one time. Never let there be water accumulation, otherwise, root rot will be a big problem! Water it about once a week in spring and autumn. In summer, due to the rapid evaporation of water, water it once every 3 to 5 days. In winter, when the temperature is low, watering it once every 10 to 15 days is enough. There is also a trick to the watering time. In spring and autumn, choose either the morning or the evening. In summer, avoid the high-temperature period at noon. In winter, water it at a warm noon.
Phalaenopsis Raffi prefers a warm environment. The most suitable growth temperature is between 15 and 25°C. Pay attention to keeping it warm in winter and don't let the temperature drop below 10°C, otherwise, it will affect its growth. In terms of light, it doesn't require strong direct sunlight. It's better to place it in a location with bright scattered light, such as a place near the window indoors where the sunlight doesn't shine directly. Too strong light will burn the leaves and flowers.
Choose a planting medium with good air permeability. A mixture of sphagnum moss and bark is a great choice, which can allow the roots to breathe freely. Apply fertilizer in small amounts frequently. During the growing season, you can apply a thin liquid fertilizer specifically for orchids once every 1 to 2 weeks, which can promote the growth of the plant. Before the flowering period, increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate. Spray it on the leaves or pour it on the roots after dilution, which can make the flower stalks strong and the flowers large and bright.
After the flowers wither, cut off the remaining flowers in a timely manner, cutting from 3 to 4 nodes above the base of the flower stem. This can reduce the consumption of nutrients. Move Phalaenopsis Raffi to a place with scattered light and good ventilation, and don't expose it to the sun. Apply a thin special orchid fertilizer once every 1 to 2 weeks to replenish the nutrients consumed during flowering. If you find that the planting medium has aged, repot it and replace it with a new planting medium with good air permeability to provide a better growth environment for the roots. When the temperature is appropriate, maybe it will bloom again!
In short, as long as you master these key points, you can make Phalaenopsis Raffi bloom every year!
