Today, I'm going to introduce a flower that is little known to people. It's Crossandra infundibuliformis. This flower is originally native to regions such as India and Sri Lanka.
In terms of flower colors, it has orange and orange-red ones, which make people feel a sense of passion and vitality. It can be placed anywhere in daily life. Whether it's in the garden, on the balcony or on the windowsill, it can become a beautiful sight.
The flower language of Crossandra infundibuliformis is "freedom", "charm" and "independence". It's most suitable to give it to friends who have just graduated and are about to start working in society, as it can serve as a symbol of encouragement for them. In the flower market, how should we take care of it after buying it back? Firstly, it likes warm, humid and cool environments. It is neither cold-tolerant nor heat-tolerant. The suitable temperature for its growth is between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. When the temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius in summer, it needs to be moved to a shady place in time or more sunshade tools should be added.
When winter comes, warmth preservation measures should be taken for it. The overwintering temperature should not be lower than 10 degrees Celsius, otherwise it will easily die.
Regarding humidity and watering, Crossandra infundibuliformis naturally likes humid environments. Usually, as long as you feel that the soil is slightly dry, you should immediately water it thoroughly. You must remember not to let the soil be in a dry state, otherwise the leaves of the plant will easily wither. In summer, autumn and winter, you can appropriately spray water mist around the plant, and you can also place some water basins around the flowerpot, which can increase the relative environmental humidity. However, when the temperature drops in winter, the frequency of watering should be reduced.
When the soil becomes compacted later, you can choose the soft, fertile and slightly acidic soil that Crossandra infundibuliformis likes. The pH value of the soil is preferably between 6.2 and 7.0. Besides, a tip for planting is that you can lay a layer of broken tiles or bricks at the bottom of the pot, which is beneficial to air permeability and drainage.
Finally, many flower lovers water the flowers but don't fertilize them. This is a big mistake, because no plant can endure long-term malnutrition. If you want Crossandra infundibuliformis to grow healthily, you can apply a balanced and thin liquid fertilizer once a month in spring and summer to promote its growth and flowering. However, reduce fertilization or stop fertilizing in autumn and winter.
