In the greening of residential areas, shrubs each have their own characteristics. They not only beautify the environment but also create a comfortable living atmosphere. Here are several types of shrubs suitable for planting in residential areas.

Nandina domestica: Its leaves are slender and graceful. In autumn and winter, the leaves gradually turn red. Small red berry-like fruits hang all over the branches, and the fruiting period is extremely long, adding a lot of festive atmosphere to the residential area. Nandina domestica prefers a semi-shaded environment. You can often see its elegant figure in the shady areas behind buildings or under trees, bringing a touch of brightness to these relatively dark corners.

Schefflera octophylla: The leaves have a unique shape and remain green throughout the year, giving people a sense of vitality. Schefflera octophylla has strong shade tolerance. For places with insufficient light, it is an excellent choice for greening. Whether it is planted under the shade of tall trees or in the shady corners of the residential area, it can thrive.

Buxus megistophylla: The leaves are large and shiny, and it remains green all year round, making it an essential part of residential area greening. It is also resistant to pruning and is often trimmed into a spherical shape, which is round and lovely. Placed beside flower beds or along roads, it becomes a unique landscape; or it is trimmed into a hedge, which is neat and beautiful, serving the functions of isolation and decoration. Moreover, Buxus megistophylla has strong pollution resistance and can effectively resist pollutants in the air, and it can be regarded as an "all-round player" in residential area greening.

Rhododendron: Spring is a grand feast for rhododendrons. They bloom in red, pink, and white colors, competing with each other and decorating the residential area extremely beautifully. It likes acidic soil and is often planted in flower beds or courtyards. The flowering period is very long, and you can continuously enjoy its beauty starting from spring.

Pyracantha fortuneana: Its branches and leaves are lush, and it remains green throughout the year. In spring and summer, Pyracantha fortuneana will bloom small white flowers as white as snow, emitting a faint fragrance. In autumn and winter, it bears bright red fruits that densely hang all over the branches. Pyracantha fortuneana has strong cold resistance, drought resistance, and tolerance to poor soil, and it has low requirements for the soil. It not only has high ornamental value but also can play a role in soil and water conservation, and is often planted on the slopes of residential areas, the edges of flower beds, and other places.

Fatsia japonica: The leaves are huge and palmately divided, with about 8 lobes, which seem to have eight corners, hence its name. Its leaves are dark green and glossy, remaining green all year round, and the shape is unique and beautiful. It prefers a warm and humid environment and has strong shade tolerance. In the community, it is often planted in the shady areas behind buildings or under trees. In summer and autumn, Fatsia japonica will also bloom small white flowers in a conical shape. Although the flowers are not large, they are dense and orderly, adding a different kind of scenery to the residential area.

These types of shrubs are all very suitable for planting in residential areas. They not only create a comfortable and pleasant living environment for us but also become unique scenic lines.
