Today, I'm sharing a flower that showcases the elegance and vitality of nature - Oncidium. Its flower language is happiness, freedom and carefreeness, and it is regarded as a symbol of good luck and success. Therefore, it is very suitable to be given to relatives and friends who have just received a promotion and a salary increase.
Oncidium is small and lovely, as lively and elegant as flying butterflies. When placed under light, it can present a golden line sense. How to maintain the fresh-cut flowers bought from the flower shop? First, unpack the packaging and cut the roots diagonally. Before awakening the flowers in deep water, be sure to untangle the flower branches intertwined between the flower heads of the Oncidium one by one, and then keep them in water for about two hours to awaken the flowers. After the flowers are awakened, tidy up the shape and remove the withered petals. Finally, get a nice vase, add 1/2 to 2/3 of water, and cut the roots diagonally according to the height of the vase and put them in the vase. Change the water every 2-3 days in daily life, pay attention to ventilation and avoid direct sunlight.
If what you bought from the flower shop is a potted Oncidium, first of all, pay attention to giving it scattered light during maintenance. Never place it in direct strong sunlight, otherwise, it may cause the leaves to be burned. It is recommended to place it by the south or east-facing windows. Because its native environment is the tropical rainforest, it needs high air humidity. Daily maintenance requires spraying water on the plants and the surrounding environment from time to time, or setting up a humidity tray. Its most suitable growth temperature is between 18-28°C.
Then in terms of watering, Oncidium should try to avoid excessive moisture in the potting soil. There is no specific number of times for watering. Just water thoroughly when you find the surface layer of the soil is slightly dry. There should be no water accumulation at the bottom of the flower pot to prevent root rot.
Finally, for the flowers to bloom beautifully, fertilization is of course indispensable. During its vigorous growth period from March to October, apply special fertilizer for orchids once every two weeks. In winter, the fertilization can be reduced to once a month. Daily maintenance requires maintaining good ventilation conditions to avoid overly stuffy air, which helps prevent the occurrence of pests and diseases.
Through the above meticulous maintenance, Oncidium can bloom its unique charm at home and add a vitality and vigor to your living environment.
