Believe that many flower lovers have raised gardenias every year. But as soon as its flowering period is over, it is usually only thrown away because there are really very few people who can raise it well. Some people even lose their flower buds directly not long after buying it. To completely solve the problem, we have to start with understanding the growth habits of gardenias. Let's understand with questions in the following text.
Generally speaking, to raise a pot of gardenias well, you need to carefully choose from the moment of purchase. When choosing, it doesn't necessarily have to have many flower buds, but you must ensure that its root system is healthy and without any damage. When buying, you can look at whether there is a broken seedling at the bottom of the root. If there is, don't buy it because it is very difficult to maintain. Basically, if you buy a broken-root seedling, you can't keep it alive. If you are really unlucky and buy a broken-root seedling, then you need to implement the rescue of broken-root seedlings, which is to pick off the flowers and remove one tenth of the dense old leaves. If there are more than four broken roots, you need to cut off the weak branches, pinch off the tall ones, and also need to soak the pot appropriately. If the root damage is not serious, just pick off the flowers and pinch off the top. Through this operation, it can survive.
After flower lovers select healthy gardenias carefully, after taking them home, they need to slow down the seedlings first. That is to say, don't rush to change the pot. First, maintain it in the original pot for a few days. If the pot is dry, water it, and then put it in a place with scattered light, and then gradually increase the light later. Another point to note is that during the flowering period, you must not think about changing the pot with flower buds. Because the stem system of gardenias is very fragile and the roots are easily damaged. Changing the pot will instead cause it to lose a large number of flowers and the leaves to turn yellowish and wither, or even die directly.
In addition, another key to maintaining gardenias is not to let it lack water. Many flower lovers don't give enough water when watering. They think that if they water today, they won't need it tomorrow. In fact, during the flowering season of gardenias, it cannot be separated from water. Especially in early summer, it will produce a large number of flower buds. At this time, the soil needs to be kept moist. If you find that the soil is dry, you need to immediately soak the pot for half an hour. After soaking the pot, put it in a place with ventilation and transparency for watering.
Finally, if you want to raise flowers well, you also need to give enough sunlight. As long as the gardenia has good sunlight, the quality of the flowers will also improve. If it is kept in the shade, it will definitely turn yellowish and wither. It is recommended to have more than 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight every day. For the garden that has just been bought home, it also needs gentle scattered light. After three to five days of transition, full sunlight should be given back.
