Today, I'm going to share a kind of herbaceous potted plant with a very auspicious meaning - the "Pachira aquatica (money tree)". In terms of appearance, it has very thick leaves and branches. When it's fully - grown, it's not very big and usually stops growing when it exceeds 40 centimeters at most. Therefore, in recent years, many people are happy to keep it as an indoor potted plant, and it also has a very good symbolic meaning. However, what should we do if the leaves of the money tree turn yellow during daily care? What's the matter? Let's find out together in the following text.
The yellowing of the money tree leaves generally falls into situations such as improper fertilization, improper watering, and improper lighting. How to solve these problems? First of all, for improper fertilization, the leaves may turn yellow because there has been no fertilization for a long time. If the daily care only relies on the soil, it can't support the normal growth of the money tree. Therefore, it's recommended to fertilize in a timely manner to replenish nutrients. Generally, fertilize once every half a month or so, and the leaves can quickly regain their vitality.
Then, the yellowing of the leaves may also be caused by improper watering. The money tree itself is a plant that prefers dry soil. If it's watered too much in daily life and the soil is always wet, its roots will slowly rot, and this will subsequently lead to the yellowing of the leaves and, in severe cases, may even affect its healthy growth. Therefore, when watering, it's advisable to follow the principle of "water when the soil is dry". That is to say, wait until the soil is slightly dry before watering. If you can't control the amount of water well and pour too much water, you should pour out the water immediately and place the plant in a well - ventilated area to let the soil drain. If there is a relatively serious yellowing phenomenon already, you need to dig out the roots of the money tree, trim the rotten roots, and then replant it in a new pot with new soil.
Finally, the reason for the yellowing of the leaves may be improper lighting. The suitable growth temperature for the money tree is 20 - 32 degrees Celsius. It likes light but is also relatively shade - tolerant. However, if it's placed in a dark environment for a long time and not given normal sunlight, it may not be able to carry out photosynthesis, thus leading to the yellowing of the leaves. If the yellowing has already occurred, in terms of care, you can first move half of the plant to a sunny place, and then slowly move the whole plant to a sunny place to let it gradually adapt to the warm sun. As long as you persist for a period of time, the leaves will slowly turn green again.
