What flowers are one-season flowers?
The term "one-season flower" usually refers to plants that have only one obvious flowering period in their life cycle. This period may vary depending on the plant species, growing environment, and maintenance conditions. But in general, these plants will only bloom in a specific time period every year, showing their most magnificent side. This characteristic makes these flowers particularly eye-catching during their flowering period.
Tulip
Tulip is a perennial herbaceous plant of the genus Tulipa in the Liliaceae family. Tulip is a typical "one-season flower". Every spring (from March to May) is its main flowering period. Tulips have large and gorgeous flowers, and the colors range from pure white to deep purple. They are extremely ornamental. It should be noted that the bulbs of tulips need to be treated at low temperatures to bud and bloom. Therefore, although its flowering period is short (about 15-20 days), the blooming of each flower embodies the dual efforts of nature and humans.
Peony
Peony is a perennial deciduous shrub of the genus Paeonia in the Paeoniaceae family. It is known as the "king of flowers" and is one of the traditional famous flowers in China. Under normal circumstances, peonies also bloom only once a year. The flowering period is concentrated in spring (especially in April), and the duration is relatively short, generally only about ten days. Peony flowers are huge, rich in colors, and have layers of petals, full of a noble air. In recent years, with the progress of horticultural technology, people can already extend the flowering period of peonies by controlling temperature, light and other means, and even achieve off-season blooming.
Peony herb
Peony herb also belongs to the genus Paeonia in the Paeoniaceae family and has a kinship with peonies, but the two are different in morphology and flowering period. Peony herb is also a plant that blooms only one season a year. The flowering period is usually from April to May in spring. Although the flowers of peony herb are not as huge as those of peonies, they are rich in colors, have various flower shapes, and have an alluring fragrance, and are also deeply loved by people. The flower buds of peony herb need to go through a low-temperature vernalization process to bloom normally. Therefore, in southern China, due to the relatively high winter temperature, peony herb often cannot bloom naturally.
Iris
Iris is a perennial herbaceous plant of the genus Iris in the Iridaceae family. Iris flowers also belong to the category of "one-season flowers". The flowering period varies depending on varieties and regions, but most are concentrated in spring to early summer. The flowers of iris are shaped like the tail of a kite, with bright colors and high ornamental value. In countries such as France, iris is even selected as the national flower, symbolizing light and freedom. It should be noted that although the overall flowering period of iris is relatively long, the flowering period of a single flower is relatively short. Some varieties can even only open for one day, making it even more precious and unique.
"One-season flowers" refer to those plants that have only one obvious flowering period every year. Tulips, peonies, peony herbs, and irises are representative flowers among them. While enjoying these flowers, we should also pay attention to their growing environment and maintenance needs and create a more suitable growing condition for them so that they can bloom in their limited lives.
