I believe every friend who has bought Phalaenopsis wants to grow it into a beautiful and charming plant, making its graceful flower shape even more dazzling.
In terms of maintenance, many flower growers think that as long as they give it an appropriate amount of water and let it bask in the sun, they can grow it well. But in fact, it's not that easy, and there are all kinds of problems. So how can we solve them better?
Phalaenopsis purchased in the flower market is generally planted in sphagnum moss. Usually, the surface of the medium is very dry, but the bottom is wet. What should we do in this case? Should we loosen the soil at the bottom to make it breathable, or should we continue to water it thoroughly? Or should we just wet the dry part on the surface with a watering can? Do we need to fertilize Phalaenopsis regularly? Can the fertilizer be sprayed on the leaf surface?
Next, I will answer the above questions one by one. First of all, different masters of plant cultivation have different styles of planting. Therefore, I think as long as the methods are properly used, the Phalaenopsis can be well taken care of. But in my opinion, I would suggest checking and comparing the moisture content of the sphagnum moss inside. If it is still very wet in the middle, do nothing. But if it looks dry, spray an appropriate amount of water on the surface of the medium.
Regarding fertilization, if you only fertilize the leaves and water the plants in this way, it is very likely to affect the plants' absorption. If this operation is carried out for a long time, the roots may not be able to absorb the nutrients of the fertilizer and may even lead to root necrosis. Generally, spraying a thin layer of fertilizer on the leaves is a method often used by flower farmers, but it is not suitable for use at home where there is not enough ventilation. In terms of fertilization theory, we can fertilize according to the need. If there are not too many Phalaenopsis plants, only 2 to 3 plants, then use the special diluted fertilizer for Phalaenopsis, fertilize in small amounts but frequently, and try not to over-fertilize, because too much fertilizer will be a burden instead.
Finally, it should be noted that should we apply medicine immediately when Phalaenopsis gets sick? In fact, as long as it is not infected with the white root disease caused by bacteria-carrying seedlings, there is no need to use medicine immediately. Generally, other diseases can basically be overcome and adjusted by physical means. We can move the plant to a different environment to prevent diseases. The reason is that using too much medicine on Phalaenopsis will also damage the roots of the plant, which will also affect its flowering condition in the later stage.
