I believe that friends who buy potted plants home all hope to see the flowers and plants they raise grow up quickly. However, some flowers and plants may die after one or two years of watching them grow up, just because their lifespan is too short, which is rather disappointing. Today, I will introduce three kinds of long-lived flowers and plants for everyone. Their lifespan is at least ten years, and some can even live for hundreds of years. Moreover, they look elegant and have a floral fragrance. Keeping one pot at home can make the place fragrant for at least several decades.
Osmanthus
In ancient times, osmanthus was praised by scholars and writers as the "Fairy of the Moon Palace". The ancients often described osmanthus with its elegant and rich fragrance. Also, because "gui" (桂) has the same pronunciation as "gui" (贵) meaning noble and auspicious, those who were successful in their official careers and became prosperous were said to "win the laurel".
The flowering period of osmanthus is usually in autumn, around the Mid-Autumn Festival. At this time, a large number of golden or orange flowers will bloom on the branches and release a rich fragrance. Hence, there is a saying that "Osmanthus blossoms everywhere in August". In terms of maintenance, the suitable temperature is 15-28°C, and it likes fertile and slightly acidic soil. Therefore, it is a typical southern flower. If it is in the north, attention should be paid to controlling the alkalization of the soil.
Pistacia weinmannifolia
It is the most used plant in the literary and artistic decoration style. The leaves are mainly dark green. Although the leaves are relatively small, touching the leaves by hand, they have a waxy texture and a strong luster. Its origin is Yunnan, Sichuan and other places, and it is mostly used as an indoor potted landscape plant for appreciation.
Pistacia weinmannifolia itself has a faint fragrance, and this smell can also repel mosquitoes. Daily maintenance is also relatively simple. Just keep it slightly moist. It can grow rapidly with less watering and less fertilization. Generally, its lifespan is at least 50 years. The growth cycle is very long and it is an evergreen plant.
Peony
The peony is the national flower of our country and is known as the "King of All Flowers". The flowers are huge and magnificent after blooming. Just placing them randomly in the courtyard can show its grace and luxury. The flowering period of peonies is generally from April to May. After blooming, when you bring your nose close to the flowers, you can smell a refreshing fragrance. At the same time, it has an extremely long lifespan. It is no problem to live for forty years. In terms of daily maintenance, it likes a cool environment. The suitable growth temperature is between 15 and 22 degrees. You can choose neutral sandy soil with good drainage. When watering, water after the potting soil is completely dry.
