What will happen if the flowers are soaked for too long during the rehydration process?

Reviving flowers is a crucial step to bring fresh flowers back to life from a tired state. However, if you accidentally overdo the flower revival process, troubles will follow one after another.

Firstly, over-reviving flowers can cause serious damage to the stems of the flowers. When reviving flowers, the flower stems are soaked in water for a long time, and the cells will continuously absorb water and expand. Once it is excessive, the cells in the stem will burst due to absorbing too much water. The stem, which originally supports the flower to stand upright and transports water and nutrients, becomes extremely fragile. For example, after over-reviving a rose, the stem may become soft and mushy. It will bend with a gentle touch and can no longer hold up the delicate flower steadily. The flower will wither in just a few days.

The lifespan of the flowers will also be significantly shortened due to over-reviving. Normal flower revival can restore the vitality of the flowers and extend their viewing period. But over-reviving flowers breaks this balance, and the flowers consume too much energy in advance. Taking lilies as an example, they can bloom for about a week after normal revival. If they are over-revived, they may only last for two or three days. The rapid withering of the flowers will greatly disappoint those who are full of anticipation.

Over-reviving flowers will also affect the appearance of the flowers. The petals may become dull due to excessive water absorption, losing their original bright color and plump texture. Just like carnations, after normal revival, the petals are stretched out and the color is bright. But after over-reviving, the petals become wrinkled and the color becomes pale, and the ornamental value drops sharply.

In addition, over-reviving flowers may also lead to the growth of microorganisms. The flower stems soaked in water for a long time provide a hotbed for microorganisms such as bacteria and mold. These microorganisms multiply in large numbers in the water, not only polluting the water body but also eroding the flowers upward along the flower stems, causing the flowers to show signs of decay and mildew, greatly shortening the fresh-keeping period of the flowers.

Although flower revival is good, don't overdo it. It is necessary to understand the revival time and requirements of different flowers, so that each flower can bloom beautifully under proper care and extend their glorious time.
