For those who have ever taken care of Phalaenopsis, it is indeed a challenge to raise it well. During the maintenance process, the most common situation is that the Phalaenopsis just bought has bright flowers, but it will wither after only more than 20 days of maintenance. Why is this? What should we do when we encounter this situation?
As a relatively delicate flower, improper maintenance of Phalaenopsis can easily lead to its withering, and all these problems are actually due to inadequate daily care, excessive watering, exposure to the sun, excessive fertilization, and so on. Although it is difficult to take care of Phalaenopsis, as long as you master the correct maintenance techniques, you can still make it full of flowers. At the same time, reasonable maintenance can also effectively prolong the flowering period of Phalaenopsis.
What should we do during the maintenance? First of all, the primary task of raising Phalaenopsis is to ensure appropriate lighting, because its demand for light is rather special. It is neither resistant to strong light nor adapted to an overly dark and poorly ventilated environment. Therefore, the most suitable environment for it is a half-shady and half-sunny place. In daily maintenance, it should not be placed in a position where it is directly exposed to the sun, and at the same time, it should be ensured that it receives at least 4 to 6 hours of gentle sunlight every day.
Then, to ensure the healthy growth of Phalaenopsis, the surrounding temperature also needs to be within a relatively constant range, and the most ideal temperature is 18 to 28 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is lower than 10 degrees Celsius or higher than 30 degrees Celsius, it may have an adverse effect on its growth. Especially during the dog days, Phalaenopsis should be placed in a cool place with appropriate humidity to prevent high temperatures from harming it. It should not be ignored in winter either. When it is cold, it is recommended to place Phalaenopsis indoors, and a black bag can be put on it at night when the temperature is low to keep it warm.
Finally, daily watering is also crucial for the maintenance of Phalaenopsis. Although it likes a humid environment, too much water will instead cause the roots to become saturated with water vapor. Therefore, watering should be adjusted according to the season and weather conditions. The best method is to touch the potting soil with your hand to ensure that it is moist but not overly wet. At the same time, when watering, avoid splashing water on the buds and flowers to prevent the flowers from withering prematurely.
