Today, I will share a "silver willow" that is regarded as bringing wealth and prosperity and enhancing peach blossom luck. At the same time, it is also the most popular plant for New Year's flowers. In terms of appearance, it has slender branches and colorful catkins. Whether it is fresh or made into dried flowers, it is suitable for being placed in indoor spaces to add an artistic sense of harmony.
In family care, silver willow can be placed in the courtyard, office, living room and other places. And the care of silver willow is not complicated. In terms of light, it likes sufficient sunlight and avoids strong sunlight exposure. The placement can be near the window, because sunlight is helpful for the growth and prosperity of the plant. If the placement location does not have enough sunlight, you can use artificial supplementary lights to supplement sunlight.
In terms of watering, silver willow does not have a high demand for water. The soil likes moisture. The suitable growth temperature is 15-25°C. During the growing season, keep the soil slightly dry between waterings and water thoroughly when watering. If it is at a low temperature of -10°C in winter, its growth is slow and watering should also be appropriately reduced.
In terms of soil, silver willow is not too picky about soil. It likes fertile, loose and moist soil. It is recommended to directly choose flower soil rich in humus.
If you want the plant to have lush branches and flowers, the fertilization step cannot be omitted. It is recommended to apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers before the flowering period to promote flowering. In other growing seasons, fertilizers can be applied once a month. This operation can prolong the flowering period. At the same time, it should be noted that fertilization should be stopped in winter. In terms of pruning, because silver willow is mainly in the form of branches, it grows rapidly. To maintain its plant shape, it needs to be pruned regularly. Otherwise, it is easy to hang down and break. It is recommended to prune in spring or autumn, which can also promote the growth of new branches.
In addition, regarding pest control, silver willow is relatively resistant to pests and diseases. If there are pests in the later stage, it is mostly scale insects or aphid pests. If there are scale insects, they are generally gathered in the center of the leaves, making the plant weak and the leaves turn yellow. At this time, it is recommended to move the potted plant outdoors as soon as possible and spray water on the plant to wash the insects down, or directly use pesticides such as buprofezin. If there are aphid pests, they are mostly gathered on the top of the stem or flower buds, which will affect the growth and flowering of the plant. The countermeasure is to hang a yellow sticky insect board near the plant to stick a large number of pests, or directly use pesticides such as imidacloprid.
