When choosing flowers for bedroom decoration, one needs to be cautious and deliberate. Here are several types of flowers that are not suitable for the bedroom and the reasons why.
Orchids. Although orchids have an elegant posture and charming fragrance, their floral scent is rather strong. In a relatively closed and limited space like the bedroom, the strong floral fragrance can easily stimulate the human nervous system, causing excitement and affecting the depth and quality of sleep.
Lilies. Lilies are beautiful and have a rich fragrance. However, their strong and persistent aroma may cause allergic reactions in some people, such as sneezing and runny nose. Moreover, the overly strong fragrance at night can interfere with one's breathing and make it difficult to fall asleep peacefully.
Narcissus. The bulbs of narcissus contain lycorine toxin, and accidental ingestion can cause symptoms such as vomiting and enteritis. Its floral fragrance is also rather strong, and prolonged inhalation may cause dizziness.
Tulips. Tulips have brilliant colors and are highly ornamental. But their flowers contain a substance called alkaloids, and long-term exposure may cause discomfort in the human body, such as dizziness and fatigue. In the bedroom, this kind of exposure is more frequent and close.
Night-blooming jasmine. Night-blooming jasmine emits a strong fragrance at night to attract insects for pollination. But for humans, this fragrance is too strong and irritating, which can lead to breathing difficulties and affect sleep.
Chinese roses. Chinese roses are fragrant and beautiful, but the scent they emit is rather strong, which may cause discomfort symptoms such as chest tightness and shortness of breath in people, especially in a relatively closed environment like the bedroom, where this discomfort may be amplified.
Poinsettia. Although poinsettia has a bright appearance, its sap is somewhat toxic. In the bedroom, if one accidentally comes into contact with its sap, it may cause allergic reactions such as redness, swelling and itching of the skin, posing a threat to health.
Alocasia macrorrhiza. The sap of Alocasia macrorrhiza contains toxic components. If accidentally touched or ingested, it may cause poisoning reactions, such as swelling and pain in the mouth and throat, and burning pain in the stomach. There are certain safety hazards in the bedroom.
When choosing flowers for the bedroom, one should fully consider the characteristics of the flowers and their potential impact on human health and sleep, and avoid choosing the above-mentioned types of flowers.
